ABOUT
Andrew Stein
Andrew Stein is a staunch believer that the government should be required to prove the facts and the law before taking away someone’s freedom and liberties.
Proud to be a criminal defense attorney, he knows his job is to defend each and every accused person’s rights, in order to protect the rights of the innocent from being violated.
Andrew was told from a young age that he would make a good lawyer because of his debating skills.
However, when he first started at the University of Wisconsin Madison, he entered the engineering program. After quickly realizing this field of study wasn’t for him, his interests shifted to more theoretical and analytical studies, such as political science and economics.
Upon nearing graduation, Andrew set his sights on law school, reminded of the comments people made when he was younger.
Another driving force that led him to law school was the fact that he knew he wanted to make a difference in people’s lives. As an attorney (and particularly a criminal defense attorney) he knew he would be able to help clients directly for extended periods of time in a way that truly benefited them in the long-term.
At Hiltner Law, our job is to look out for your rights — and we take that responsibility very seriously.

Attending law school at the University of Akron during the pandemic was not an easy task – classes were canceled, the law school was closed, and classes were held online. But Andrew is proud and grateful that he was able to overcome those difficulties, adapt to those changes, and graduate law school with summa cum laude honors.
Now, with Hiltner Trial Lawyers, Andrew loves helping his clients through difficult times and is particularly dedicated to the field of criminal justice because he believes in the importance of protecting people’s rights. He believes that every individual has the right to a true defense, regardless of what they are accused of.
Andrew believes his work is important because he gets to help ensure that clients are treated fairly and with the respect they deserve. He is truly dedicated to these rights and to fighting for and protecting these rights. With each case, he wants to give his client a fighting chance against a system where the cards are so drastically and wrongfully stacked against them.
While he may be a Wisconsinite – a true Cheesehead, born-and-raised – Andrew thinks of Ohio as his home now. In his free time, Andrew likes to spend time exploring the Cleveland-Akron-Canton area by visiting different local breweries and restaurants, hiking and camping nearby, and going to local sporting events and concerts. He’s even begrudgingly decided to claim the Cleveland Browns as his second-favorite team to watch, to cheer for, and (more commonly) to complain about. He is also proud to say that he is an Eagle Scout, and he believes that his time in Scouting helped to mold him into the man that he is today.
